Philip K Dick from Fiction to Film

Welcome to PKD Film & Fiction

This site looks at the ficton behind the film adaptations of Philip K Dick's work. To date there have been eight such adaptations with number nine, entitled Next, in the pipeline.

Probably for many PKD fans, an interest in the author began with seeing one or another Hollywood treatment. Blade Runner, for example, frequently tops lists as the best sci fi film of all time, and Total Recall was a huge box office success.

This site helps point back to the stories as Philip K Dick told them. The Fiction Forum is an online reading group devoted to discussion of Dick's work. A Scanner Darkly was the first book up for discussion.

How well Hollywood treats Philip K Dick's work is often a matter of hot debate. Dick's lead characters are frequently uncharismatic, socially awkward outsiders. Not surprisingly the casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the lead in Total Recall raised many eyebrows in PKD fandom. Have your say on the Hollywood adaptations in the Film Forum.
