Philip K Dick from Fiction to Film

Welcome to PKD Film & Fiction

This site looks at the fiction behind the film adaptations of Philip K Dick's work. To date there have been nine such adaptations with numbers ten and eleven in the pipeline.

Probably for many PKD fans, an interest in the author began with seeing one or another Hollywood treatment. Blade Runner, for example, frequently tops lists as the best science fiction film of all time, and Total Recall was a huge box office success.

How well Hollywood treats Philip K Dick's work is often a matter of hot debate. Dick's lead characters are frequently uncharismatic, socially awkward outsiders. Not surprisingly the casting of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the lead in Total Recall raised many eyebrows in PKD fandom.
